T. Deon Warner, J.D.

Background

Deon Warner (Managing Partner). Deon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, in 1981. He earned his Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law in 1984. While attending Howard University, he served as Assistant Editor of the Howard Law Journal and graduated 19th in his class.

Deon served as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas for the Honorable Gabrielle K.McDonald from 1984 to 1986. He began his legal career in 1986 with the law firm of Andrews & Kurth L.L.P. in Houston, Texas, where he was a partner from 1992 to 1997. Thereafter, he started his own firm. Deon served on the Texas State Securities Board from 1991 to 1997 and served as chairman of the Board from 1995 to 1997.

Deon’s practice areas are: mergers and acquisitions, securities regulation, Blue Sky laws, franchising, non-profit corporations and real estate. Since 1989, he has given numerous speeches and lectures on securities law and corporate formation issues and has served as an adjunct law professor on such topics.

Professional and Community Involvement Deon is an active leader in the community, donating his time and services to Houston First Corporation (on behalf of the City of Houston), The United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, the Houston Area Urban League, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Texas Minority Counsel Program of the State Bar of Texas and the Adopt a School Committee of the Houston Bar Association. As an active member of local and national bar associations, Deon has served on and chaired various committees of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association and the National Bar Association.
